根據精神疾病診斷和統計手冊第四版(the fourth version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders)指出,非因任何醫學狀況或智力缺陷而表現出動作協調困難的兒童,可被分類為發育協調障礙(developmental coordination disorder,DCD)。這些兒童常伴隨著教育水平低下、負面的社會心理反應,及視覺空間工作記憶(VSWM)缺陷。過往的神經心理學研究,透過視覺空間的認知作業來了解DCD的神經病理學機制,再加上也有研究指出體能的活動能改變大腦結構及神經的可塑性,與認知功能呈正相關 1,故透過運動訓練提升心肺功能,似乎是改善DCD兒童VSWM表現的有效方法2 3。 和先前研究的差異為本研究納入了DCD兒童的有氧運動介入,主要目的在於透過16週耐力運動介入,促進心肺功能增加,端視是否會改善DCD兒童運動能力和VSWM表現,並探討慢性耐力運動介入將對DCD兒童行為任務表現和VSWM認知任務缺陷是否產生有益的影響。研究運用分層隨機選擇的方式進行抽樣,將1096位兒童分為975位一般兒童、臨界兒童79位,以及DCD兒童42位。經排除ADHD兒童後,將40位DCD兒童半隨機分為訓練組及未訓練組,及20位的一般發展兒童(TD)組,在耐力訓練課程前與後,施測動作適能檢測(M-ABC-2)、心肺適能檢測以及腦波(VSWM的事件關聯電位ERP),經16周的耐力訓練後觀察其成效。結果發現DCD兒童的VSWM缺陷在於行為表現上(如較慢的反應時間和較低的準確率)和神經電生理指標上(如:較小的P3和pSW振幅)於提取歷程階段。但是經過運動介入後,DCD訓練組與他們訓練前的表現相比,呈現較高的準確率和增加P3振幅於編碼和提取歷程階段。這些發現建議增加心肺適能可能透過配置與編碼和提取有關的較大的工作記憶資源來有效地增進DCD兒童的VSWM作業表現。
